"Wild and Untamed"—An Exhibit from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

Both Teri and I (Kara) have a love of Baltimore Album quilts—especially since we live in the great state of Maryland, where these quilts originated. Most of these quilts were created in a short period of time and have not just fascinated us, but they also intrigued the well-known father of occupational therapy, Dr. William Rush Dunton. Dr. Dunton believed that quilting could be therapeutic for women (and men) who suffered from mental health issues. He was also fascinated with old quilts, specifically the intricacies and detail of the Baltimore Album quilts. This interest led to groundbreaking research in ...

Hey, hey - I'm starting to get the hang of this video promotion situation! My second video is up and running. It's a little "tour" of a great crazy quilt that I've been repairing.

And this video is by way, of course, of reminding you that the start date for my quilt care and repair workshop is coming closer and closer. You can register for the whole workshop, or for selected alá carte items. Full details and registration info can be found on my website.

Quilt for an 1895 Wedding from Ann Quilts

I love a dated quilt.  I love a dated quilt with a family story (see full story below).  Combined together....well.... it's simply grand.

The fabrics have some preservation issues and staining throughout.  And at some point, a critter chewed a hole in the quilt and almost chewed a second.  The good part of that story is that the critter was polite enough to avoid chewing up any of the embroidered history.

Good Morning Quilters!!  Fall has definitely arrived in Michigan this week, and I am making progress on finishing some quilts.  This one, which has lately been spread out on the floor of a room downstairs, is finally a quilt top.  I blogged about it last  (Here).  And (Here). Good Morning Quilters!  I am using the new Blogger interface for the first time.  You can teach an old dog new tricks!!  Our children/grandchildren left Wednesday to go home, and we have a few days to get ready for the next visitors.  We have had great weather and I am drying sheets outside on the line today.  Towels in the dryer, sheets on the line - that’s the story of our cabin between

Design Wall Monday - July, 13, 2020 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Good Morning Quilters! I made some progress on the quilts I am making for the Churn Dashers of Tidewater Virginia’s display in a quilt show next spring.  The pink setting fabric on this one is a Judie Rothermel fabric named “Judie’s Album Quilt”.  Seems appropriate that I named my quilt “Judy’s Album Quilt”.   This picture was taken before I trimmed down the outside setting triangle
